On stage at a Mayo theatre near you – Theatre and the Arts Breaks Mayo
Theatre and the Arts Breaks Mayo. The west has long been a home to the arts in Ireland. Both locally where we are privileged to have two Mayo theatres close by and there are many more right across the region. From the performing arts to engaging galleries there’s so much culture right on your doorstep. There’s also art galleries in Cong and Westport which are both just a drive away. For accommodation and places to stay near Mayo’s culture spots, it’s got to be Lough Lannagh.
The Linenhall Arts Centre has been providing an arts service to the people of Mayo for the last twenty years. The Linenhall’s ongoing programme includes world music, traditional, blues, jazz, classical, country and much else in between. In drama, both Irish and international companies regularly feature. The Linenhall Gallery shows a range of contemporary art in a series of exhibitions throughout the year in a dedicated gallery space. Add in film, literature and festival nights and you’ll see why it’s got such a sparkling reputation.
Elsewhere in the town, the Royal Theatre offers a full programme of music, comedy, drama and many international acts regularly play there and it has a real track record as a comedy venue and attracts some of Ireland and Britain’s top comic talent.
A trip away from the town will bring you to Galway where a wealth of art galleries can be found. Smaller galleries are found elsewhere right throughout Mayo and the west. Just ask us about them, where they area and how you can get there. As always, we can assure you, we‘ll look after your with ‘star-treatment’ Lough Lannagh hospitality.
